Industrial Hygiene/Environmental Health Substitute Teacher (6-2-08)

This position is a one-year, full-time substitute (i.e. non-tenure track) faculty position. The position requires a combination of teaching and administrative responsibilities. Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) seeks a highly dynamic professional for a position to assist the WCMC community in the development and implementation of construction and occupational safety programs; develop and maintain safety plans and procedures to promote safe work practices and conditions in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations; provide OSHA training; conduct construction and facility inspections, identify unsafe conditions and work behavior, and provide appropriate corrective actions; conduct accident, incident, and near-miss root cause investigations and develop recommendations to reduce accident and injury rates; develop program objectives and corrective action strategies; provide periodic status reports to management; and work closely with other EHS staff to integrate safety programs.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering or another safety-related area required; must have at least 3 years experience in construction and occupational safety; a strong working knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations and relevant codes; must be skilled in assessing and implementing safety compliance programs and working with a diverse group of facility managers and building occupants; must be organized and capable of working both independently and as a supervisor in a service environment; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and email/internet programs; must also be able to handle multiple assignments for independent operating units; excellent oral and written communication skills (including training program delivery and program documentation) necessary.
